My
New Puppy
11/17/08
When
I was 8 years old I saw my dad was sitting outside beside my dog so I
went out, I saw my dog Blacky sitting on the ground lifelessly and
then I knew what had happened from the bite mark on his leg it was a
coyote. Then we called the vet to see if there was anything we could
do to help her but she refused, When the vet left we buried the dog.
After that my dad and I went inside and watched T.V. silently, not
saying a word.
The
next day my brother, three sisters and mom got home from an outing,
Then we told them. My sisters were sad and went upstairs mumbling to
each other. They did not like to hear bad news when they have just
gotten back from an outing, They fell to sleep after about 20 minutes
and did not wake up until the late afternoon.
The
next day after we went to school my mom went to the pet shop in
Newport and got the new puppy that we had to wait to find out about
it until the end of school. It seemed to be the longest day of our
lives. My dad working like he always does on weekdays, Logging.
My mom actually came to pick us up that day, She brought the suprise
with her because she just got back from Bangor after doing taxes and
getting the suprise. After my mom got out of the car I saw her grab
something from the back of the car, It was a dog! Her black fur was
shining from the sun, She was the size of your palm with her brown
eyes and black nose. When we held her she licked our hands and our
face when we held her near it. I learned that dogs have to be
treated the same when she is growing up as when she was a puppy.
Daisy was always finding something new in our house like a toy or
shoe she didn't recognize. She loved to go outside and just sit in
the sun where it was nice and warm now. Daisy was not able to go
some places like the neighbors lawn or down back beyond the brook,
She could get hurt and we would not be able to find her. She was
allowed on our lawn and Grandfather's land. She loved to go for
walks and would beg to go down back to the brook. Daisy freaked out
when she saw somebody new. She ran up to them, growled and then ran
away. She loved it when she got to go to the beach and play fetch or
swim.
As
she got older I noticed that she started to bite because we weren't
going out and playing with her every day. I started to go out to pat
her every day after I fed and watered her, and now she will lick you
all day.
I
love my puppy daisy because she is always there to comfort you and
calm you down if you get mad, sick or just looking for someone to
play with. If you take care of your dog she will always love you and
never run away from you if you let her free outside because she will
not have a reason too, She will be your companion forever. A dog is
just like you, you can get mad and the dog can get mad. You need to
feed and water a puppy or dog every day, You need a lot of
responsibility to take care of a puppy or dog. But not just dogs
need attention, All animals do.
